Protesters storm BlackRock headquarters in Paris in rejection of control measures

  • “We are taking actions to give visibility to the social struggle,” the protesters said.
  • Blackrock is seen as something of an enemy to those who defend their labor rights.

Dozens of protesters broke into the headquarters of BlackRock, located in Paris, today to express their rejection of the pension reforms promoted by the government of Emmanuel Macron.

The ruler activated special constitutional powers last month to push the controversial legislation through parliament, without requiring a vote.

The changes mean that starting in 2027, people will have to work longer to receive government pension benefits.

Protests against Macron’s pension reform have been going on for more than 10 days. And Today videos shared on social media showed the moment protesters stormed BlackRock’s Paris headquarters holding red flares and chanting slogans.

“Money is needed to finance our pension system and there is enough here,” shouted Fabien Villedieu, the spokesman for the CGT Cheminots railway workers union, according to Le Parisien newspaper.

In itself, the protests focus on the fact that the French government intends to increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 years.

In addition, the government has said that pension legislation is necessary to prevent a financial deficit in the nation. However, workers do not agree with this approach and there are many who complain about the increase in the cost of living.

“Banks create crises and BlackRock is one of them,” they point out in France

“Instead of taking two years off the lives of the workers, Macron should seek funds here,” said Berenger Cernond, a delegate from the railway workers’ union, as reported by the aforementioned outlet.

In France, people who are still working finance the pensions of retirees; although, the government points out that the pension system must be reformed to make it financially sustainable. According to his calculations, the volume of pensioners and retirees charged to the system will end up breaking it.

The French suspect that the government intends to benefit private services and large companies.

“The government wants to throw away pensions, they want to force people to finance their own retirement with private pension funds, but what we know is that only the rich will be able to benefit from such a setup,” said retired teacher Onic, according to a Reuters report . .

This was precisely the reason why the protesters decided to move to the building in the center of Paris where BlackRock has its office. Everything to express his rejection before the largest asset manager in the world.

About three years ago, BlackRock was accused of “playing politics with public pensions, as reported by Barron’s.

However, the government or private companies are the only alternatives that exist to safeguard pension funds.

As Market Times has reported, to escape the control of governments and the degradation of their money, more and more retirees are turning to bitcoin as an alternative to sustain their lifestyle in the coming years.

In fact, some companies offer services or Bitcoin savings plans for retirees.
