The fortune of the tycoon Ricardo Salinas Pliego did not have a good year in 2022. According to data from Forbes, there was a “loss” of 1.5 billion dollars recorded comparing the tycoon’s assets between 2022 and 2023. On the other hand, Bloomberg estimates a decrease calculated in about 2,400 million dollars during the past year.
According to Bloomberg, Salinas Pliego’s wealth comes mostly from his stake in Grupo Elektra. The outlet explains that the businessman and his family own 74% of the total shares of the conglomerate. Your graphs show that the value of this company suffered a depreciation in 2022 .

According to the quarterly report presented by Grupo Elektra at the end of 2022, the conglomerate’s net profits were set at around 1,411 million pesos during the period. Totalplay, the tycoon’s telecommunications arm, also saw losses in 2022. The company’s report explained that during the 12 months of the year, there was a negative profit of 1,915 million pesos. TV Azteca, for its part, registered net profits in 2022 of 577 million pesos. This represented an increase of 63% compared to the same period of the previous year, mainly due to sales from the broadcast of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
