Al Qaeda threatens France and Sweden with terrorist attacks

Women with abaya

The Al Qaeda group has threatened France with new terrorist attacks, and also Sweden, for, they accuse, “being at war against Islam.” The group does not specify the reasons, but France has just banned students from going to school wearing the abaya, the typical tunic of some Muslim countries. In the case of Sweden, it would be due to the recent incidents with the burning of Korans.

In a propaganda publication of the group (Sada al Malahim), which has been echoed by the French press, a man is seen posing with a rifle in front of an image of French police officers. They ask to leave “Muslim children calm, educated under the protection of their parents.” There is no specific reference to the abaya.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (Aqpa) threatens an “armed attack” on a French ministry and also targets the Swedish embassy. “It is clear that Sweden has chosen to take the lead in the war against Islam and Muslims among EU countries, rivaling France, Denmark and others for first place in the race to oppose God and his message,” says the group.

Sweden already raised its terrorist alert level to four out of five this summer. France is on high alert these days, especially due to the visit this week of King Charles III and Camilla, and this weekend for that of Pope Francis, who will go to Marseille. According to Le Figaro, French authorities have verified the authenticity of the post. In addition, Paris celebrates the Olympic Games next summer.

This Al Qaeda group -Aqpa- already threatened the satirical publication Charlie Hebdo, which was the target of the terrorist attacks in January 2015. In November of that same year, a chain of attacks took place at the Stade de France, several restaurants and the Bataclán concert hall, where 130 people died.
