Apple marks 2028 for its electric vehicle debut

IMPORTANT POINTS:

  • The launch of Apple’s Electric Car has been delayed until 2028.
  • The project, initially focused on an autonomous vehicle, now focuses on an electric car with more limited features.
  • This change marks a significant step for Apple, a company that has never ventured into the automotive sector.

Apple, recognized worldwide for its technology innovation, has been developing a self-driving car since 2015. After multiple production delays, the launch of the now electric car has been postponed until 2028.

The vehicle, which initially targeted a launch in 2026, faces a new horizon according to reports, placing Apple’s Electric Car (EV) on the roads no earlier than 2028.

According to sources close to the Apple Car project, after initially envisioning a driverless vehicle, the company is working on an electric vehicle with more limited features .

After almost a decade of rumors about a new Tesla competitor in autonomous driving, Apple seems to have hit a roadblock. Rather than delay the autonomous vehicle further beyond 2028, the company will opt for an EV.

Changes in strategy

Apple has yet to comment on the most recent reports. However, according to Bloomberg, the new release date is two years earlier than recent projections. The Apple Car project is one of the most anticipated and innovative projects in the company’s history.

Some might argue that the car will be as anticipated, if not more so, than the launch of the iPhone. Apple has never ventured into motorized vehicles before, so a move toward an electric car model is a long way from the tech giant’s comfort zone.

Since the projects called Titan and T172 began in 2015, they have had multiple different production managers. Additionally, several layoffs and production stoppages have caused the delays. We hope that whoever is behind the wheel will be able to have the car on the roads in the next 4 years.
