Trump’s campaign reports raising $14.5 million in early 2023

Donald Trump‘s Presidential Campaign reported on Saturday that it raised $14.5 million during the first three months of the year, with contributions having accelerated sharply after the former president announced he was on the verge of being criminally indicted.

Disclosure of the balance sheet to the Federal Election Commission does not cover all of the former president’s political fundraising or disclose full donor details online.

But the document shows at least $2.7 million raised via individual donors in the two weeks after March 18, when Trump announced that a Manhattan jury was about to indict him in an investigation into bribes he allegedly paid to a lover before the 2016 presidential election.

During the two weeks prior to the announcement, the document shows the campaign raised just over $1 million via individual donors.

Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for the US presidential election, has denied having a sexual encounter with the woman at the center of the investigation and calls the case a witch hunt by his political enemies. His March 30 indictment made him the first former US president to face criminal charges.

That fact energized his supporters and his campaign finances.
